Esencias / Essences
Esencias is a collection focused on what stays
Of showing a place a person or a particular moment these paintings look at the mark that experience leaves behind: color after memory, movement after action, material after shape.
Esencias is finally a collection, about taking the image to what can't be easily described: feeling, memory, material and being.

Eva Caro works through layered surfaces in which paint accumulates, disappears, resurfaces and is partially erased. The image is never entirely fixed. It seems to emerge slowly from the canvas, allowing areas of density and emptiness to coexist within the same field.
Earth tones, creams, greens, ochres and blues move across the surface with different intensities. At times they suggest landscape, vegetation, weather, skin, mineral formations or distant architecture. At others, they resist identification altogether. This ambiguity is central to the series: the paintings invite recognition without ever fully surrendering to it.

The title Esencias points precisely to this reduction. What matters here is not the representation of an object, but the residue of its presence.
Small chromatic incidents, scratches, accumulations and interruptions act almost like fragments of memory. The surface becomes an emotional geography in which the viewer can project their own associations.
There is a tension through the collection between delicacy and erosion, between abundance and silence. Some areas are dense and tactile; others are almost empty. This contrast gives the works their rhythm. They can feel expansive from a distance. Unexpectedly intimate when approached closely.
In these paintings colour is not decorative. It carries weight, atmosphere and psychological temperature. The material surface records the act of painting itself preserving hesitation, repetition, pressure and disappearance.

Where scent becomes colour.
Esencias is a series of paintings centred on matter, memory and the emotional life of colour. Through layered surfaces, erosion, traces and shifting fields of pigment, Eva Caro creates works suspended between abstraction and recognition. Landscapes, fragments and organic forms seem to appear and disappear, leaving behind something more fundamental, the residue of experience.
