Les petits princes

Les petits princes explores childhood not as a place of innocence, but as a territory of memory, imagination and emotional survival.

Blue dominates the collection, shifting from luminous turquoise to deep nocturnal tones. Gold repeatedly interrupts these fields of colour, introducing light, preciousness and an almost celestial quality. The materiality of the works is equally important: layered paint, impasto, metallic elements and sculptural surfaces allow the image to move beyond the purely pictorial. Certain areas seem excavated rather than painted, giving the works the appearance of memories gradually emerging from matter.

Across the series, small solitary figures inhabit vast blue spaces, suspended between landscape, dream and recollection. They appear surrounded by stars, metallic surfaces, fragments of architecture and richly worked textures, as though moving through worlds that are simultaneously distant and deeply interior.

In Les petits princes, wonder is therefore never merely decorative. It becomes a form of resistance. The capacity to imagine, to remain curious and to preserve emotional sensitivity is presented as something fragile, but also necessary.

Eva Caro transforms the familiar archetype of the travelling child into something more intimate. Her princes are not illustrations of a literary character. They become figures of passage: children confronting immensity, searching for belonging, carrying curiosity, vulnerability and resilience with them.

Les petits princes is a series of oil and mixed-media paintings exploring childhood, memory and the inner journey. Small figures move through luminous blue and gold worlds, suspended between dream and reality. Through layered surfaces and tactile materials, Eva Caro transforms the archetype of the travelling child into a reflection on vulnerability, imagination and the part of ourselves that adulthood never completely erases.
